Trying to reach your brother Ron Gannaway. Know Ron from Bluefield, WV, when he played with Layy Haywood and BPO (late 70's early 80's). Tell him my sister Frankie Devor says hello.

P.S. Love your music. You are truly blessed with an incredible talent.

Hi Shawn,
You've got a very distictive style and voice...your music is great!! My favorite songs are: "There was You", "All in Good Time", "When Your love Comes Around", "Fight for Love" , and of course "My Best Friend." I'll check your website to see if/when you play in my area (Agoura) and I'll come listen to some great music!!

Take care,
Patty Hartman

Shawn I'm sure we don't know each other, but probably know people who know people...I was looking for someone I went to school with, so I googled his name and your website came up...after reading some of the entries I knew I was on to something...I graduated from Norco High School and was looking for Tim Teffeteller...but the T.T. I found wasn't the one I was looking for...you see, mine was the class of '82, but after seeing someone mention Norco in your guestbook I knew there had to be a connection...feel free to write back I probably went to school with some of your friends parents.

Take Care
Look forward to seeing you all again.

At the Duke in Warrenpoint, you/Bob/Gerry totally hypnotised the five of us fans of (variously) Gallagher, Clapton, Blackmore, Page & Cobain with your high-octane musicianship! You were definitely the uncrowned kings of the festival. Best regards and Haste ye Back - Barry, Roseleen, Clare, Lynne & Tony.

Blues Matters!

May 30, 2006

Just a quick note to let you know we have a CD review for ….. in the next issue of Blues Matters!

Below is an extract from the review…
"Shawn Jones is one of those rare artists that can burrow their way into your soul. But Jones, who can count Waylon Jennings as a former employer and a fan, brings something other than talent to the table, he brings himself. Every song has a heart and this album is merely the latest stage in Jones's own journey. On the album the sparks fly between the tradition of blues and the freedom of West Coast rock'n'roll and that collision makes for a heady cocktail. On the epic 'Love Will Find A Way', Jones sounds spookily like a young and energised Eric Clapton as his voices aches and stretches to breaking point....."

I was at the press last night as well. This was my first time hearing you and you have definatley made a fan. I picked your album(which I am listening to right now) and i really dig it. Watchtower and castles made of sand were great...keep creating amazing music man. You're good at it. I also can't agree more with the post below me. I have a friend in Iraq right now and another one about to leave. I am glad your brother made it in and out intact..all I can do is cross my fingers for my friends.

Robert Burke

February 24, 2006

Hi Shawn

We saw you last night at The Press and, as my wife said in her posting, we really enjoyed your show.

I would also like to say we were very happy to hear that your brother got back from his tour of duty safely. I agree that the important thing is to bring our guys and girls back home, and the sooner the better. While I was totally echoing the cries from the audience of "F" Bush, the men and women over there are doing their duty the best they can, and the fact that many of them are doing so even though they don't agree with the politics, is to their credit. We very much respect you for going to Iraq to perform and helping to lighten their load a little bit.

As my wife said, we really enjoyed your performance last night and appreciate that you put so much of yourself into it. I hesitate to use the word "performance" because it implies an act presented to others that's apart from the performer. When we watch you play, it's like a fusion of virtuosity, artistry, and personal soulfulness – a window into you.

We also appreciate your gentle kindness and humility. It stands in such stark contrast to your ferocious playing!

Thanks again for sharing you talents with us. We're going to try to get to Lucille's for the show tonight. Looking forward to seeing you with the band.

Seen you perform the other night in Alhambra. I was the guy (east coast, N.J.)that bought your "all in good time" immediately after your gig. Thanks for the discount. It was a $10 deal. Anyway, both your cd and your live performance were awesome! Man, you knocked my socks off! You definitely have a new fan in me.
Hope to see you rock the LA area real soon.
By the way, I was impressed with your giving your Creator thanks! Have you ever considered cutting a Christian album? I know there are many true believers out there who would support your efforts! Whatever the case, may God bless you and inspire you in your spiritual walk.

Have been blessed to see Shawn perform twice. Last September at the Coach House opening for the Legendary Leon Russell and tonight at Lucille's BBQ in Brea. What an awesome talent this man has and his bass player is mighty fine as well.
Do I love me some slide guitar? Yes I do and Shawn is superb. Looking forward to my next treat. I'll be doing some CD shopping soon!
Great, great stuff Shawn!

What can I say? Shawn Jones is the very missing link between raw talent, and uncompromisable skill on the guitar. Soothing you with the acoustic ballads in which he can tear your heart out with the words of a song like "All in good time", some vintage slide tones and then rock you into submission, ripping you to shreds his faithful Strat and ole 65 Fender Deluxe with "I just can't help myself". All songs and indeed his lyrics carry the weight of humanity in their truth, and strike the chord in the heart with hope and courage for which we all look for. Shawns voice is the velvet that carries history as it happens in the life of a God honest working man...
I have seen him grow in all aspects of life and his craft, and I am proud to call him my friend and an inspiration to me musically and in this ride called life.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please enjoy what I have known for years to be the biggest and best talent to come out since Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and even dare I say the master, Jimi Hendrix.
I dare, I dare.

Another fine evening last night.
Shawn, you just keep getting better and better. Our friends who came up from Corona last night agreed.
You are a superb artist and a master at the slide guitar. A remarkable poet as well.

Wanted to let you know that I posted the info that you sent along about the upcoming Kyle Tullis tribute concert to both The Leon Russell fans group that I moderate and the Leon Lifers list. Hope it helps.
Blessings,
Spreng

I met Shawn Wednesday nite at the Tribute concert for my uncle, Kyle Tullis. Shawn blew me away during his part in the concert, and getting a chance to talk to him after the show was the highlite of my evening. I have the new CD in the car and it is a must have. Don't think I will be taking it out anytime soon. Thanks again for being in Nashville. Hope to see you again soon when you are back in this part of the country.
